: Wonderware Performance & Operations Software 3.4

Wonderware recently announced new software solutions that are designed to enable customers to better address critical issues in manufacturing operations. These enhanced software solutions include Wonderware Operations Software 3.4 and Wonderware Performance Software 3.4 and are evolutions of the Factelligence offerings from the acquisition of Cimnet, an MES software company integrated into Wonderware in 2007.

The new software applications offer enhanced integration with Wonderware’s System Platform and InTouch HMI software, which provide a common and strategic industrial application services platform on top of virtually any existing system. The applications are built on the industry-standards based ArchestrA real-time service-oriented architecture (SOA) technology. This integration provides a comprehensive MES (manufacturing execution system), EMI (enterprise manufacturing intelligence), HMI (human-machine interface) and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) solution using a single, unified software platform.

Customer investments in today’s plant software solutions can be leveraged as future operations management needs evolve, such as from a single machine HMI implementation to a supervisory plant solution or to a larger multi-plant MES and EMI roll out.

Operations Software 3.4:

Wonderware Operations Software 3.4 is offered as either Standard Edition or Premium Edition, with each edition providing incremental levels of MES functionality. The editions support customers requiring a scalable MES approach that allows them to start with fundamental ROI, and easily evolve the solution as they progress on a path toward operational excellence.

Standard Edition:

  • Work Order Execution
  • Production Events Tracking
  • Bill of Materials
  • Parameters/Recipe Download
  • Data Collection

Premium Edition:

  • Everything in Standard Edition
  • Inventory Management
  • Certifications
  • Labor Management
  • Control/Tracking of Process Steps

Performance Software 3.4:

Wonderware Performance Software 3.4 is a component of Wonderware’s EMI offerings that include new features for tracking an unlimited number of reasons for equipment downtime, as well as unlimited calculations of overall equipment effectiveness. Both software offerings provide an evolutionary path for existing Wonderware users, and can work in conjunction with a customer’s other software applications.

  • Downtime and Utilization Tracking
  • Real-Time performance monitoring (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Detailed reporting and visualization tools

The integration of these new operations and performance offerings with the Wonderware System Platform and InTouch software provides logical data models for plant equipment and production activities, the ability to define reusable templates for key operational functions and intuitive user interfaces via a wide range of powerful Microsoft .NET controls that work inside of InTouch and other visualization applications.

: Wonderware's New Water & Wastewater Industry Pack

Wonderware recently announced the release of the Wonderware IndustryPack for Water & Wastewater designed to enhance overall productivity in facility operations for the water and wastewater industry. This is the first in a series of IndustryPacks to be introduced by Wonderware that will focus on specific vertical market segments and will leverage the powerful object oriented Wonderware System Platform with ArchestrA graphics. Wonderware is providing a single unified software platform for integrating real-time information with business critical applications.

The Wonderware Water & Wastewater IndustryPack, which will be available to download for customer support members later this month, is a pre-configured set of application templates and graphics specifically built for use by water and wastewater companies and municipalities. Pre-configured content enables system engineers to minimize the overall cost and complexities associated with creating and managing water and wastewater systems. In addition, it will address critical issues facing this industry such as workforce attrition, regulatory requirements, business factors, source water supply and aging infrastructure.

Targeting municipal water and wastewater operations as well as industrial water and waste treatment, the Wonderware IndustryPack leverages ArchestrA technology for greater productivity and ease of use. The unified ArchestrA software architecture simplifies the reporting and management functions performed by operations personnel, enabling them to build systems that are easy to replicate at multiple industry sites.

For manufacturing environments, synchronization of water treatment systems with overall manufacturing operations provides greater operations efficiency and regulatory compliance. Wonderware software can integrate most any data source, and transform raw data and events into meaningful information that helps reduce operations costs, identifies hidden inefficiencies and enables more cost-effective operations. Extensive flexibility and scalability enables users to expand operations or change work processes as their operational requirements change.

The ArchestrA architecture is ideally suited for water and wastewater applications by employing an easy-to-use, component-object-based environment for developing standardized water and wastewater operations management solutions,” said Eduardo Ballina, industry manager for Wonderware SCADA solutions. “This significantly improves productivity and controls the overall cost of managing and deploying solutions.”

More than 28,000 Wonderware software licenses are in use at water and wastewater sites around the world to manage plant operations. Offering one-click software upgrades since 1990, Wonderware ensures that water system operators can continue to depend on the experience of a proven software platform and personal support through a worldwide network of local distributors and systems integrators. This provides flexibility both in the way solutions are built as well as in the ability to choose how to implement and maintain systems.

: Mtelligence - CMMS to Plant Floor Connectivity

In an effort to continue to increase the capability that can be leveraged through the Wonderware System Platform, Wonderware has introduced their newest Endorsed Partner, Mtelligence.  The Endorsed Partner logo is reserved for offerings that have been engineered specifically to work in concert with Wonderware Technology.  Mtelligence is the first company to gain this status with their MIMOSA Interop Server product that allows the seamless integration from the Wonderware System Platform to most of the mainstream EAM/CMMS packages on the market today.

Mtelligence MIMOSA Interop Server™ (MIS) helps helps manufacturers improve asset performance by predicting and preventing equipment failure. Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) enables a shift from reactive to proactive maintenance, providing maintenance planners with the tools they need to move beyond calendar and break-fix maintenance strategies, and giving operators visibility into maintenance from their HMI. CBM provides significant cost benefits to manufacturers, including positive shifts in return on assets and overall equipment effectiveness for critical assets.

Wonderware’s Condition Based Monitoring solution (powered by Mtelligence MIMOSA Interop Server,“MIS”) integrates Wonderware condition monitoring data into Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, such as SAP PM™, IBM Maximo®, Infor Datastream®, Indus and AssetPoint Tabware. Mtelligence MIS enables utilization-based (i.e. runtime hours) and condition-based (i.e. alarm condition) work orders to be triggered automatically when tag values exceed pre-defined thresholds. This integration gives Maintenance personnel visibility and provides Operations personnel visibility into
maintenance status directly from InTouch plant floor nodes.

Benefits Include:

  • Increase asset reliability and availability
  • Automate predictive alarm-based work order generation within your EAM/CMMS system
  • Give Operations personnel visibility into maintenance work orders and status from directly within their InTouch HMI
  • Use template System Platform automation objects and compiled ArchestrA graphics for plug and play rendering of EAM-based data in your HMI
  • Ensure universal integration to all EAM/CMMS systems (multi-site capability with HQ visibility)
  • Eliminate the need for plant technicians to make unnecessary rounds, taking machine device readings and hand entering the results Into the EAM system

Mtelligence delivers greater visibility and greater returns on asset performance through their Maintenance Intelligence™ platform including the Mtelligence MIMOSA Interop Server™. Their real-time performance monitoring and MIMOSA Compliant® interoperability products help customers drive operational excellence throughout the organization by maximizing asset performance, increasing availability, improving coordination between operations and maintenance and reducing O&M costs.
